More snow!
So fed up of the cold weather and snow! We seem to be having more than Vancouver. Speaking of which, how good is Amy Williams' gold?!
I'm enjoying the coverage of the Winter Olympics, but am annoyed that I can't take part in the 2010 Knitting Olympics. I still can't knit at all and I'm not sure when I will be able to in the future. It's quite odd, really as it was always a daily part of my life.
As an antidote to the miserable weather, a friend and I hit the shops this morning in search of colours and styles to lift our mood. Actually, we did manage to find some in the Per Una department in M&S. Lots of cerise and navy and purple and dove grey. Great colours and styles. Looking forward to needing to buy some more clothes in smaller sizes.

Good health news!
My sister-in-law's surgeon has confirmed that he has managed to remove all the tumour and that her lymph nodes were clear.
Such good news.
Now she can get on with the healing!

What I did on my holidays
It's half term! Yay!
I mamaged to get a cold on the Thursday before we broke up. Perfect timing, but at least I can vegetate at home.
Saturday we went to South Yorkshire to see my new nephew, who is just perfect. So sweet. I hope the cold that he already had was the same strain as the one I have and it doesn't cause him any more problems.
Sunday we went to Gisborough Hall for my nephew, Stephen's wedding to Charlotte. Nice wedding, freezing cold venue.
Yesterday I had a slight hangover/dehydration/cold thing going on, so worked through it, exercised and stayed hydrated. Went to Dalton Park with j, in a fruitless search for the perfect sweatshirt.
Today I saw my orthopaedic surgeon. Apparently I have Kienbock's Disease and need an operation to revascularise my lunate bone.
I've asked if it can wait a bit as I now have a prior surgical engagement. I have a date for my RNY, on 30th March. So excited! A bit worried.

More boring health stuff
An odd week and I feel so tired. Glad it's the weekend and only 4 days at work next week before half term.
During the holiday, I'm planning to go see my new nephew . An older nephew is getting married on Valentine's Day. I'm also driving j through across country for a meeting at (hopefully) his university. Other than that the week will be my own.
I have to see my orthopaedic consultant again, too. The wrist problem appears a little more complicated than I originally anticipated. This week I had an MRI scan and it seems that there might be something wrong with the blood supply to some bones in my wrist/hand.
So, still no knitting. It hurst too much.

Family news
Well, we've had some ups and downs lately.
We have a new nephew, W. My brother and sister-in-law's son.
The family is very multigenerational, like many today, I guess. His eldest (half)sister is 24.

J's sister is having a difficult time, having recently been diagnosed with cancer of the throat. A non-smoker, fit, healthy and young, she faces some difficult surgery and subsequent treatment.
We're keeping everything cross and sending her good wishes.
